The Past
Legends On Saturday morn, September
9, 2006, Czar died while Karolyn and I were up at the Regional
Championships. He was 11 1/2 years old. Czar was my puppy his whole life
from the age of nine weeks to the end. His accomplishments were in spite
of my incompetence. He was 13 times SchH3 (288) SchH1 National Champion,
North Central Region SchH3 Champion, Mid Central Region FH Champion (99
points) and Multiple times National SchH3 competitor. Czar's career ended
at 5 1/2 years old from a back injury he suffered doing the sport he
loved. He survived that injury and his heart carried him on for 6 more
years. I learned so much from him and I especially want to thank Russ for
helping me realize what a great dog he was while we were training. I have
a lifetime of memories that Czar gave me. Czar's greatest title was when
my nine year old dog took my eight year old daughter and showed her how to
track on their way to a 99 point TR1 track. I have pictures of that that I
will always treasure. Czar didn't stop teaching after his schutzhund
career ended. One of his greatest gifts to me is that he taught Kirk and
Jessica how to love animals and care for them. They held Czar in their
arms and cried for him as he died. I wish I could have been there for him
too. To
all of you who knew him, Blitz bloated and twisted his stomach on Sunday
afternoon December 11, 2006 at 7:00p.m. We ran him into the Veterinary
Emergency Services where he had surgery performed. On Monday afternoon
Blitz was recovering, still at the vet's office, and at about 6:00 his
great heart gave out. The vets did all they could but he couldn't be
saved. Blitz was Karolyn's first dog in the sport of Schutzhund. The two
of them learned so much so fast as their bond together carried them through
everything. Blitz and Karolyn earned their BH through SchH3 in one year.
Their SchH1 was an SG score with a 100 in tracking and their SchH3 was 288
high in trial. Blitz was always V rated in conformation, and multiple
times SchH3. Even more important than all of Karolyn and Blitz's achievements
on the field was their bond off the field. Blitz was Karolyn's fully
trained personal protection dog, her car buddy, and if you can ever have a
soul mate who is a dog, Blitz was Karolyn's soul mate. You would never
find Blitz anywhere away from Karolyn. We always called him the VISA dog
because he was always everywhere you wanted to be. Blitz loved the new
baby too. He was constantly trying to cuddle with Ryan, making sure we
knew when Ryan was crying, and keeping all the strangers away from Ryan
when they came to visit. It's hard not having him underfoot anymore. Karolyn's
dog forever in her heart and soul.
